Main Ingredients

  • 1 (8-oz.) can Crescent dough
  • 3 slices American cheese
  • 12 hot dogs
  • 2 Tbsp. melted butter
  • Dijon mustard (for decorating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Dough: Preheat oven to 375°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Separate the crescent dough into 4 rectangles, pinching together seams if needed. Cut each rectangle lengthwise into thin strips for wrapping.
  2. Cut Cheese Strips: Slice each piece of American cheese into 4 thin strips to match the size of the dough strips.
  3. Wrap Hot Dogs: Place a hot dog on top of a cheese strip, then wrap it with about 4 strips of crescent dough to resemble mummy bandages, ensuring coverage but leaving some hot dog visible.
  4. Arrange and Brush with Butter: Place the wrapped hot dogs onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush each mummy with melted butter to help browning.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes until the crescent dough turns golden and is cooked through.
  6. Decorate with Mustard Eyes: Using a toothpick, dot small amounts of Dijon mustard onto each mummy hot dog to create cute ‘eyes’. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Be sure not to wrap the crescent dough too tightly to allow it to bake evenly.
  • You can substitute American cheese with any mild cheese that melts well.
  • For a spicier version, try adding a dash of smoked paprika or chili powder to the melted butter before brushing.
  • These hot dogs are best served fresh out of the oven for the perfect crispiness.
  • Use parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
