Ingredients

Units Scale

For the Burgers and Assembly

  • 4 Brioche Buns
  • 1 pound Special Meat Blend (ground beef blend)
  • Butter or Green Leaf Lettuce (for garnish)
  • Vine Ripe Tomato, sliced
  • American Cheese, sliced
  • 2 Tablespoons Butter, divided between 4 burgers, plus more for buns if desired
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

For the Killer Burger Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons BBQ Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon Mustard or Dijon Mustard
  • 2 Tablespoons Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 3 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Make the Killer Burger Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, BBQ sauce, ketchup, and mustard until smooth. Stir in the sweet pickle relish, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Set the sauce aside to develop flavors while preparing the rest of the meal.
  2. Prepare Vegetables: Slice the vine ripe tomatoes and prepare butter or green leaf lettuce as garnish. Set aside for assembling the burgers later.
  3. Preheat the Grill: Heat your grill to high heat. Brush the grill grates with a little oil to prevent sticking.
  4. Form the Burger Patties: Divide the special meat blend into four equal portions and shape into flat patties. Press an indentation in the center of each patty to promote even cooking and reduce shrinking. Season each patty generously with salt and pepper, then place a small dollop of butter on top.
  5. Grill the Burgers: Place the patties on the grill over medium-high heat. Cook the first side for 2-3 minutes; if the burger doesn’t release easily from the grill, allow it to cook slightly longer. Flip the patties, season the other side with salt and pepper, and immediately place a slice of American cheese on top. Close the grill lid and cook an additional 2-3 minutes until the cheese is melted and the patty is slightly pink in the center.
  6. Toast the Buns: Brush the inside and outside of the brioche buns with butter. Place the buns bottom side down on the grill and toast briefly until grill marks appear but the buns are not overly crisp.
  7. Assemble the Burgers: Spread a generous amount of the Killer Burger Sauce on the bottom bun, add lettuce and tomato slices, then place the grilled burger patty with melted cheese on top. Cap the burger with the top bun and serve immediately for the best flavor experience.

Notes

  • Pressing an indentation in the center of the patties helps prevent them from puffing up during grilling.
  • Butter on the patties adds flavor and moisture during cooking.
  • Use a medium-high grill temperature to achieve a nice sear without overcooking.
  • Toast buns lightly to add texture and prevent sogginess when adding sauce.
  • Killer Burger Sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust seasoning in the sauce according to taste preference.
