Ingredients

Units Scale

Frozen Coffee Cubes

  • 1 cup brewed coffee, at room temperature
  • 2 tablespoons espresso (1 oz.), at room temperature

Cocktail

  • 3 ounces vodka
  • 2 teaspoons agave syrup or pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Topping

  • 3 tablespoons cold heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons mascarpone cheese
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons agave syrup or pure maple syrup
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Freeze Coffee and Espresso Cubes: Pour the brewed coffee and espresso into an ice cube tray and freeze until solid, about 4 hours. This step ensures that the coffee flavor is locked in and creates a frosty base for the cocktail.
  2. Blend Cocktail Base: Once the coffee cubes are frozen, combine them in a blender with vodka, 2 teaspoons of agave or maple syrup, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Blend the mixture until smooth and pour evenly into 2 chilled martini glasses. Place the glasses in the freezer to keep cold while preparing the topping.
  3. Prepare Creamy Topping: In a small bowl, whisk together the cold heavy cream, mascarpone cheese, the remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons of agave or maple syrup, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract until the mixture thickens but does not form soft peaks, about 1 minute. This will create a smooth and luscious topping for the martini.
  4. Assemble and Garnish: Remove the martini glasses from the freezer and evenly dollop the whipped cream mixture on top of the blended cocktail. Gently smooth the layer with the back of a spoon. Optionally, dust lightly with unsweetened cocoa powder for the classic tiramisu flavor and elegant presentation.
  5. Make Ahead Tips: You can prepare the frozen espresso mixture (steps 1-2) and freeze for up to 3 hours ahead of serving. Refrigerate the whipped cream topping (step 3) in an airtight container for up to 1 day. Combine just before serving for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use quality brewed coffee and espresso for the best flavor.
  • For a sweeter cocktail, adjust the amount of agave or maple syrup to taste.
  • Make sure the heavy cream is cold to achieve the best texture when whisking.
  • The mascarpone adds authentic tiramisu flavor but can be substituted with cream cheese if needed.
  • Optional cocoa powder garnish enhances the tiramisu experience but can be omitted.
  • Freeze the glasses beforehand if desired to keep the cocktail colder longer.
