Ingredients

Units Scale

Dough and Toppings

  • 1 pizza dough (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 golden delicious apples, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • Basil or microgreens, for garnish
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Bacon and Seasoning

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons rosemary, chopped
  • Black pepper, to taste

White Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup yellow onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and spray it with non-stick cooking spray to prepare for baking the bacon.
  2. Bake the Bacon: Arrange the 8 slices of bacon on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle chopped rosemary and black pepper over the bacon to infuse flavor. Bake in the oven for 12 to 14 minutes until the bacon is crispy. Remove it from the oven and place on paper towels to drain excess fat. Once cooled, chop the bacon and set aside.
  3. Make the White Sauce: Heat a medium skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add the diced onion and minced garlic, cooking for about 4 minutes until softened and fragrant. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to eliminate the raw flour taste. Gradually pour in the chicken broth and whole milk while stirring continuously. Add dried oregano and continue stirring for 3 minutes until the sauce has thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth.
  4. Prepare the Pizza Base: Lightly spray another baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray. Roll out the pizza dough into a 9×13 inch rectangle on the prepared baking sheet. Spread the white sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
  5. Assemble the Pizza: Evenly distribute the thinly sliced apples over the white sauce. Sprinkle the chopped rosemary bacon pieces on top, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese.
  6. Bake the Pizza: Place the pizza in the preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with fresh basil leaves or microgreens. Slice and serve immediately. Enjoy your delicious Apple Cheddar Rosemary Bacon Pizza!

Notes

  • For a vegetarian option, omit bacon and increase cheese and rosemary for flavor.
  • You can substitute chicken broth with vegetable broth to make it suitable for vegetarians.
  • If you prefer a crispier crust, place the pizza dough on a pizza stone instead of a baking sheet.
  • Use sharp cheddar cheese for a stronger flavor contrast with the sweetness of the apples.
  • Allow bacon to drain well on paper towels to prevent soggy pizza.
  • Feel free to use fresh oregano instead of dried for a more vibrant herb flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container and reheat in an oven to maintain crust crispiness.
